Our Story: A New Chapter for a West Texas Legacy 

For over 70 years, CMC Business Systems has been part of the fabric of West Texas. What started as one man’s belief in better office technology has grown into a trusted name across West Texas. Today, we’re proud to share the next step in our journey: CMC Business Systems is joining the UBEO family of companies. 

Where We Started 

It all began in August of 1956, when the late Ted Holeva opened a store called West Texas Business Forms, Inc. Later that year, he started selling copying machines alongside business forms. His biggest competitor at the time? Carbon paper. Ted had to convince office managers that a copier could do the job better, and he did such a good job that he soon renamed the company Copying Machines Corporation.  

Over the decades, the company grew right along with the region. It added Canon copiers in 1981 and eventually became CMC Business Systems, Inc. to reflect a broader product line. Through every move and every new technology, one thing stayed the same: a commitment to the people of West Texas. 

Patrick Holeva, Ted’s son, now leads the company as President. He grew up in the business, starting with Saturday trash duty and working his way up from warehouse duties and deliveries to sales and finance. As Patrick likes to say, he’s “a person of all seasons.” His father passed down a work ethic that still guides how we do business. 

“Take care of the customer, and the customer will take care of you.” That principle is exactly why so many of our customers have stayed with us for decades.
